Thank you for your continued patronage of Katsukichi. After a long, hot summer, the weather is finally starting to cool down a bit. I hope you’re all doing well!

We’re pleased to announce that the release date for our winter specialty, “Domestic Fried Oysters,” has been decided. This winter, they will go on sale from October 8, 2025.

We operate three Katsukichi locations: Marunouchi, Hibiya, and Nihonbashi. Katsukichi Shibuya is currently closed until around 2030 due to reconstruction work for redevelopment.

Please note that typhoons and other weather conditions may affect our purchasing schedule. We will announce any changes on our official blog.

Due to local circumstances, we expect to be purchasing less in October. We apologize if the product is sold out.

We source domestically sourced raw oysters from Anrakujima Island in Toba, Mie Prefecture, and Okayama Prefecture, and combine several oysters to make a single deep-fried oyster.

We source fresh oysters that have just arrived at the market early in the morning, wrap them in the finest fresh bread, and deep-fry them for this traditional dish. Enjoy with a generous amount of tartar sauce.

This traditional method has been used since Katsukichi opened in Muromachi, Nihonbashi, in 1958.

Frying several fresh oysters together creates a juicy flavor.

Another unique feature of our fried oysters is that we carefully select high-quality oysters from carefully selected sources to ensure they have minimal bitterness.

We often hear from people who previously disliked fried oysters that they love them! We hope you’ll give them a try.

The video below is from our visit to Toba Anrakujima, an oyster producing area. It has been posted on our YouTube (Katsuyoshi Channel).

Takemoto Suisan at Anrakujima Fishing Port showed us their oyster farming operations. They also gave us permission to film and record the footage. Please take a look if you’d like.

We’d like to express our gratitude to all the oyster producers who take pride in growing these oysters.

We hope you’ll enjoy Katsukichi’s fried oysters this winter as well.
